Who needs a Runner’s Total Body Diagnostic Assessment?
This program is for anybody that currently runs or would like to run more. It is for those who would like to assess the strength, mobility, and stability of their body to ensure they are optimally balanced their body is prepared to meet the requirements for efficient and optimal running.
Whether you are a seasoned runner trying to improve form and efficiency, a weekend warrior wanting to be more active and reduce risk of injury, or if you are returning from injury and would like to safely get back to your best self. This individualized program is appropriate for anyone who would like to run.
What is included in the Runner’s Total Body Diagnostic Assessment?
On day 1, your Doctor of Physical Therapy will take you through an examination that includes assessment of mobility, strength, and control of movement. Your personal results of the assessment will be analyzed against the requirements needed to run with good mechanics and control. They will then provide you with key opportunities for improvement.
Will a Running Assessment be performed?
Depending on your current condition, yes, a running assessment on our treadmill may also be performed. This will include running at various speeds on our treadmill with video recordings taken from the side and the back. As well as assessing for abnormalities in your running, your PT can also assess for Cadence, Ground Contact Time (GCT), Vertical Oscillation, and Average Ground Contact Time Balance. Your PT will review these recording and data with you.
How will I use the results of my Total Body Diagnostic and Running Assessment?
Based on your results and your Doctor of Physical Therapy’s analysis, a corrective program will be provided to address your key opportunities for improvement. We offer several options for follow-up and progression including:
- 1-Hour Follow-up training appointments – Best option to monitor and correct form and provide the most appropriate progressions.
- Home Exercise Program with monthly 30-minute video conference – Based on your monthly conversation, you will receive an updated exercise program.
- Home Exercise Program subscription with bi-monthly updates – Exercises will be provided based on progressions from your initial assessment results, although because no further in person monitoring is performed, you are responsible for whether you are ready to progress.
- Assessment only – You will be provided with your diagnostic results and initial exercise program and will take on the responsibility to progress further yourself.
